Carola de Wild studied medicine at UMC Utrecht. Her pathologist speciality training was done in the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. In order to gain more expertise, she did a Dermatopathology fellowship at UMC Utrecht after completing her studies. She then worked as a pathologist at the Hagaziekenhuis in The Hague for five years. During this period, she also worked as a locum in regional hospitals. Early 2010 she made the switch to Rijnstate in Arnhem. Since her training in Rotterdam, she has been part of the national melanoma panel to further study Melanocytic Lesions. Since early 2013 the collaborative partnership Pathology-DNA has had its 'own' melanoma panel recognised by the IKNL.
