The recently started perinatal audit will give us more insight into perinatal mortality in the Netherlands. This is reportedly higher than in neighbouring countries. A proper contribution by pathologists will certainly improve the value of this quality management instrument. To this end, the interpretation of the placenta examination is of a value that should not be underestimated.
After her studies at the Radboudumc, Suzanne Mol specialised in child pathology, partly in Australia and partly as a fellow at UMC Utrecht. She then started as a pathologist in the Jeroen Bosch hospital in 2010. From her focus area, Suzanne plays an active role in the perinatal audit. In addition she is a member of the board of the Working Group Child Pathology of the Low Countries and lectures on this subject at the AIOS Pathology in the Radboudumc.
